In Memoriam: Mike Delaney
ILMA was saddened to learn of the passing of Michael Arthur Delaney on Sunday, March 2, 2025. He was 88.
Delaney was one of ILMA’s original members and a long-time industry icon, serving on the ILMA Board of Directors.
Mike was born in Long Beach, CA, where he lived for 62 years before settling in Newport Coast.
Delaney played a vital role in shaping and growing Lubricating Specialties Company (LSC) in its early years. Alongside business partner and ILMA past president Armen Hampar, a resilient and successful business emerged, transforming a struggling lubricant company into the largest independent oil and grease producer in the country.
An entrepreneur and dedicated family man, Delaney’s legacy is one of hard work, vision, and meaningful contributions to the independent lubricant manufacturing industry.
ILMA extends our heartfelt condolences to Mike’s wife, Mary Lou Delaney, and their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A service and reception celebrating Delaney’s life will be held on April 24, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Newport Beach, California. Click here for more information.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you consider making a donation to the Orange County Rescue Mission in Mike’s memory.
